At the Downtown Church we believe the Bible to be God's written record of revelation in the past-- as well as a way that He continues revealing Himself in the present. Scripture, then, permeates everything we do. From the beginning, to the middle... and the end... we are striving to be people of the Book.

The pastors provide teaching and counsel from the Scriptures (Gal. 6:6; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; 2 Tim. 3:16-17), which will span the whole counsel of God's Word (Acts 20:27-28). What that means practically is that we will normally preach verse-by-verse through a New Testament book, then an Old Testament book, then New, and so forth, ensuring that we avoid pet doctrines and easy topics and work through the whole counsel of God. As well, it forces us to face issues we might not otherwise address and creates a balance, again ensuring that we tach what we should, not just what we want teach.
