Things we do...

The following is a list of the things we do here @ the Downtown Church, as well as a list of those who lead our ministries. For more information on any of these things, email info@thedowntownchurch.net.

Corporate Worship

is @ 10.00 Sunday mornings @ the warehouse- 300 24th Street South.

24/7 Prayer

involves a 24 hour a day code-accessible room @ the warehouse. You are welcome to come and pray for whatever you would like to; or, if you wish, you may take part in many prayer-related activity stations throughout the room (painting, drawing, reading, etc...) or join in the direction given by the pastors laid out on a white board in the room. It is an open place to pray.

Free Prayer

What is this, you ask with a puzzled smirk? It is where we go into public arenas (college campuses, community events, etc...) and set up a little booth where we give away---you guessed it---prayer. Sure, it is free for everyone, but when is the last time you were out in the neighborhood and someone gave you some prayer? It is an open door for ministry and evangelism, and it is led by one of our pastors, Brandon Reeder, who began this ministry, as well as the "sacks of Bibles" ministry (involving---drum roll, please---sacks of Bibles given away in our neighborhoods). For more info on these ministries or to get involved, email Brandon.

House Churches

are an incredibly important part of what we do. They are where relationships are grown and nurtured; they are the vehicle through which the majority of our ministries are run; they put traction to the things we are teaching and learning together as a family. Men's Meetings

happen the first week of every month. There is one meeting the first Thursday of the month @ Grump's downtown @ 6.30 am and one the first Saturday of the month @ Starbucks in Roebuck. The same topics are discussed @ each meeting. These times together have spawned several other small groups of men who gather at different times throughout the week to hang out, pray, discuss, whatever...For info on the Thursday meeting, email Rodney. For info on the Saturday meeting, email Keith.

Ladies' Nights

land on every 3rd Friday of every other month. They are usually @ the warehouse and are mainly fun nights when the ladies in the church gather to do whatever it is ladies do (obviously, a man is writing this). Craziness is sure to ensue...For more information, email info@thedowntownchurch.net.

The Band

practices each Wednesday night @ 7.15 following Wednesday night prayer. For more information on the band, please contact Rodney.

Collective Mothering

is an innovative way for women in the church to come together and search Scripture to discover God's direction on how to effectively raise children. It is open to married women, single women, women with kids and without. For more info on collective mothering, email Cristy.

Quarterly Classes

Each quarter we offer a few classes that happen for four weeks on Wednesday nights. The classes offered may vary each quarter, but they will usually include a membership class (for people interested in joining the church), a budgeting class (learning practical application of Biblical principles regarding your money), a theology class (to learn...theology), and a Song of Songs class for couples who are going to be married (or pretty much anyone who would like to pursue any sort of relationship @ some point in the future). For information on these classes, watch the online calendar or email info@thedowntownchurch.net.
