Since idols are the barriers to relationships, it makes sense that relationships would be one way to deal with idols. God will often use the people around us to expose our false gods, our wrong priorities, and our hidden motives. When this happens, we can bury the idol and move into a deeper oneness of relationship- or we can keep the idol, move away farther from God...and compromise the relationship(s).

Most often, our temptation is not a decision to “choose God’s good” or “choose wrong.” Rather, we are most often faced with the decision of using some of God’s Word while leaning on our own understanding, thereby diluting His message to us. In these instances, our temptation becomes to honor half of God’s counsel, not the whole counsel.
